Every end of the year the Pantone selects, by studies and references, the next year’s colour. Last week, Pantone revealed that 2018’s colour will be Ultra Violet
Pantone is the idealiser of the colours’ system, which is widely used by the graphic’s industries. Founded in 1962, Pantone used to make cards of colours for the cosmetic’s industries. Later, it developed the first colours’ system, and that’s how the famous book, Pantone’s Guide, was born with many colours and hues’ variations, for instance: baby blue, turquoise, cobalt. Each colour with its own description and identification number.
Based on studies and references from places, travels, artists in the public view, foods and films, every year, Pantone will define the predominant and popular colour of the next year… This year, the chosen colour was Ultra Violet (18-3838).
Ultra Violet is a mix of violet with purpple, which men will call purple! It’s a mystic colour that Pantone says represents originality, ingenuity and a visionary mind.
A hue that offers the mystery of the Cosmos, it implies about what’s to come and about the news beyond where we are now. It express nuances charge by emotions, symbolises experiments, expansions by creative solutions.
“Pantone’s Colour of the year became much more than a fashion or design trendy; now it’s the result of a reflexion and id of what’s missing in the world”, Laurie Pressman, Vice President of Pantone Colour Institute.
It’s a colour that will bring exoterism and modernism, it works with minimalists’ clothes and straight cuts… Ultra Violet is harmony, luxury, matches neutral, white, black and grey, but also works as a showy colour or mix of vibrant colours (colour blocking).
And it’s the easiest match than you thought, check it out:
There are even brides on it… A great friend, living in Canada, was invited to be best man… Of course I could not invite them as guests starring the year’s colour, right?!
The bride chose the bridesmaids’ dresses, and the best man’s tie and vest. I don’t even have to say she rocked in the colour, right? Check it out the pics, how lovely…
More than the clothes, the hue was present in the small details, such as the bouquets, decoration, cake…
All photos are credit to Dianne Brandon Photography, with bride Jessica Bondy’s approval, with whom I exchanged mails with, such lovely person…
She told me she chose that colour, which she loves, because it’s a democratic hue that goes well with all skin and hair shades.. Jess wanted everyone to feel beautiful and fetching, besides loving how the colour will appear in the wild, besides being able to highlight an indoor room against whites..
“I love… Isn’t she deserving of the most beautiful bride of the year? Such care for her bridesmaids, best men, the research of the colour… I wanted to thank Jess for allowing me to use the pictures and to Patrick, dear friend, for introducing us!!! Love u
Looking for the colour on the internet, I found more inspirations of bouquets and table arrangements… Love theses purple roses… Beautiful, aren’t they? So delicate and peaceful.
Regarding make-up, some celebrities betted on the colour, either eye shadow, eye liner… Rihanna is a famous example, always with a purple lipstick… You can make many combinations…
We know that the colour of the year doesn’t just influence on fashion and make up, but also on the decor… What about these ultra violet rooms?
